Retro Snake Game is a classic Snake game for iPhone, developed and operated by Samuel Adejare (an individual developer, "we", "us"), based in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what information Retro Snake Game stores on your device, what information is shared with the third-party services the app relies on (optional Game Center leaderboards, in-app purchase, and advertising), and what choices and rights you have.
This policy applies to the Retro Snake Game iOS app. It is written in plain English wherever possible. It describes the app as currently built and may be updated if the app's functionality changes — see "Changes to this policy" below.
Retro Snake Game has no user accounts and no custom backend server of any kind. The following is stored only locally, using standard iOS app storage, and is never transmitted to us or to any server we operate:
This data remains on your device unless you delete the app, reset iOS storage, or otherwise clear app data — normal device/OS behaviour applies, and we have no way to retrieve, back up, or access this information ourselves.
Retro Snake Game supports an optional global/friends leaderboard through Apple Game Center, Apple's own service. Game Center sign-in is entirely optional — the app attempts to authenticate you at launch, but declining or being signed out never blocks Home, Play, or your local high score.
If you are signed in to Game Center, we submit your run's score to Apple's leaderboard service using Apple's native leaderboard interface. We do not store your Game Center identity, friends list, or any Game Center data ourselves — Apple processes and retains that data under its own Apple Privacy Policy.
Retro Snake Game offers a single, optional, one-time, non-consumable purchase: "Remove Ads." This purchase is processed by Apple, through the App Store and StoreKit — Apple handles your payment method and transaction directly. We never see or receive your card or payment details. There are no subscriptions and no in-game currency of any kind.
We use RevenueCat, a third-party purchase-management service, to validate your purchase and remember that your entitlement is active, including offline. See the next section for exactly what RevenueCat processes.
RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) is used to validate and manage the Remove Ads entitlement. We do not ask you to create an account or provide an email address to use the app, and none is passed to RevenueCat. Instead, RevenueCat's SDK automatically generates an anonymous App User ID for your installation.
Through this SDK, RevenueCat processes:
This is used solely to validate your purchase, restore it if you reinstall the app, and keep Remove Ads working correctly. RevenueCat acts as a data processor for this information — see RevenueCat's own Privacy Policy for full detail on how they handle it.
Players who have not purchased Remove Ads may have an interstitial ad requested at the end of a game session, served through Google's Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). An ad may be requested after a session that finishes normally (for example, Game Over or a completed board) and also when you deliberately choose "Quit to Home" to leave a session early.
An ad is not guaranteed. Google controls ad inventory, so an ad may be unavailable, and in your region or under your consent choices it may not be shown at all. If no ad is available, nothing is shown and the session ends normally — gameplay, your score, and navigation are unaffected. You can turn ads off permanently with the one-time Remove Ads purchase (Home → Store → Remove Ads).
To deliver, measure, and secure these ads, Google's Mobile Ads SDK and its advertising partners may process information such as:
The crash and diagnostic information above comes from Google's own Mobile Ads SDK monitoring its own operation, separately from the gameplay-analytics service described in Section 11.
Not every category above is processed for every user or every ad request — what applies depends on your region, your consent choices, and your ATT permission. Ads may be personalised or non-personalised depending on those same factors; we do not control or guarantee which one you'll see.
On iOS, access to the advertising identifier (IDFA) — which can be used for tracking-based advertising — requires your explicit permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. Retro Snake Game will show you Apple's standard ATT permission prompt.
Where required by applicable law — including for users in the UK and EEA — Retro Snake Game uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present an advertising consent message before ads are personalised. This is Google's own consent-collection mechanism for AdMob, not a separate advertising network.
The following third parties are involved in operating Retro Snake Game:
| Party | Role |
|---|---|
| Apple Inc. | Processes App Store purchases and payment via StoreKit; operates Game Center; provides the ATT permission framework and the iOS platform itself. |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | Validates and manages the Remove Ads in-app purchase on our behalf. |
| Google LLC (AdMob) | Delivers, measures, and secures in-app advertising, and provides the UMP consent mechanism; may work with its own advertising technology partners to do so. |
| PostHog, Inc. | Provides anonymous, aggregate gameplay analytics (e.g. how a run ended, which control scheme was used) — see Section 11 for exactly what this covers. |
We describe each party's role as accurately as we can based on their own current documentation and terms. We do not label any of them with a specific legal classification (such as "processor" or "controller") beyond what their own published terms support.
Retro Snake Game does not currently have or use:
This section describes our own app and its first-party behaviour. It doesn't limit what Apple, RevenueCat, or Google may independently process as described elsewhere in this policy.
Retro Snake Game uses PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand how the game is played in aggregate (for example, how runs typically end, which control scheme is more popular, or whether an ad loaded successfully) — so we can improve the game. This is gameplay analytics only; it is not a crash-reporting tool, and Retro Snake Game does not use Sentry, Crashlytics, Bugsnag, or any other remote crash-reporting service.
PostHog analytics in Retro Snake Game is deliberately limited:
See PostHog's own Privacy Policy for how they handle the information described above.
Depending on the specific processing activity, we and our providers rely on:
Apple, RevenueCat, and Google are global companies and may process data outside the UK/EEA as part of operating their services. Each maintains its own safeguards for international transfers — see their privacy policies (linked throughout this page) for details specific to each provider.
If you're in the UK or EEA, you generally have the right to:
Some data described in this policy is held by Apple, RevenueCat, or Google rather than by us — requests relating specifically to their processing may need to be directed to them directly, using their own privacy request channels.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or with your local supervisory authority if you're in the EEA.
Retro Snake Game is a general-audience game and is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Game Center, advertising, and purchases are provided by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat, their own age-related protections and policies apply to those features. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us using the details below and we'll address it.
We rely on the security practices of Apple, RevenueCat, and Google for the data each of them processes, and follow reasonable practices in how the app itself is built. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy as Retro Snake Game's functionality changes or as legal requirements evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
